    C182 v 737 KAUS Oct16 2024 RA

You sure? Nobody should be below the Bravo shelf (they really like to beat us up about it). It's been awhile since I've had to fly into ORD, but I seem to remember crossing the fixes over the shoreline at 4000'.

Word to the wise - a warm body with a certificate days are over - for now.

It won't be that bad. It's not rocket science - just a lot of information. Be a sponge and find a fun group to study every day with and you'll be fine. Callouts and flows. Callouts and flows! Have fun! Let us know how it goes. Being based where you live is a great start. :)

    C182 v 737 KAUS Oct16 2024 RA

I'd like to think that the vast majority of us don't consider ourselves to be too busy to look for GA traffic - specifically when something is called out to us. GA especially tends to get our attention because VFR in particular can be less predictable. But I do agree that looking out the window...

    C182 v 737 KAUS Oct16 2024 RA

I know you like to grind your axe when it comes to airline guys, but do you really think we just ignore the call when traffic is called out to us? Wish it were allowed - it'd do some of you some good to sit on a jumpseat sometime.

91.3 emergency authority - "deviate from any rule OF THIS PART" - practical effects?

Haven't there been cases of the FAA having heartburn over pilots overflying 'suitable' airports during an emergency where they're instructed by checklist to land at the nearest suitable?

All things equal - which approach are you taking

If there's no financial advantage, they won't spend the money. LPV minimums don't provide much extra capability in a typical airline environment, so there's no perceived need to go through the certification process and train everyone up on it.

Delta knocks tail off other plane on ground

Can't speak to the Airbus, but in the case of the 777-300 that is correct - the cameras' FOV doesn't extend much past the engine nacelles. It's for making sure the gear is where you want it to be. We can't see our wingtips, but as @Greg Bockelman said we spend time learning to have an idea of...

    Pan Pan

I understand that, but I do think it's an unusual thread title given that pilots in the States tend to talk about 'declaring an emergency' without any consideration to actually saying "Mayday" or "Pan Pan" to make the distinction to ATC. I opened the thread thinking we'd be discussing Pan Pan...

I'm confused. How does that disagree with what he said?

Who are rated seaplane pilots on POA? 'fess up.

SES with about 8 hours. Would love to get back into it, but it's pretty far down the list at the moment, unfortunately.
