    Another panel upgrade musing

I appreciate the perspective, but disagree a little. I'm not ready to sell the aircraft just yet and it's a nice clean C172N. There's a C172N on TAP with arguably worse avionics than mine for $130K. I would rather not go through the selling/buying process and not know what I may end up, for...

I have thought about that too. I appreciate your offer, I would have definitely reached out for a quote if we were a little closer... ;)

Considered the G5's but I was told the GI275 was actually a bigger screen and I like the flush look. I'm OK with the extra 1-2 AMU. Agree on the avionics ROI, that was always my thought, but with as much as the airframe/engine has appreciated I will still be in the black if I sell the aircraft...

A little concerned that the AI or HI could tumble tomorrow so a lot of this is trying to be proactive. Removing the vacuum pump is an added plus. I would love to install a GFC500, but if I'm not going to fly IFR I just can't justify it...

    Another panel upgrade musing

Hello! Trying to decide if it’s worth upgrading my panel. Details: C172N 6,000 TT AirPlains O-360 conversion and GW STC’s < 300 SMOH by PennYan in late 2019 State of the art 1993 panel consisting of two KX155 NAV/COM’s, KN64 DME, KR87 ADF,KI208 VOR Indicator, KI209 LOC/GLS Indicator, King...

VFR to IFR upgrade (before delivery of new aircraft)

IIRC there aren't any LSA's that allow IFR flight as the current ASTM standards preclude it. However, a LSA may be transitioned to an ELSA and then the owner is free to equip it for IFR flight, obtain amended Operating Limitations and fly IFR.

This is exactly the issue! 500 AGL and making inspection passes isn't the issue, admitting to and operating closer than 500 feet to any vessel, vehicle, or structure is.

Point taken, I should have said that I didn't know he conceded flying "within 500 feet of vessels, vehicles or structures". If I had done something similar I wouldn't be surprised to hear from the FAA and I'm not surprised he lost his appeal...

All this time I missed that he conceded violating 91.119. To me this is now in the category of "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes". I enjoy most of his content, but his video from a month ago where his buddy almost gave him a permanent haircut is making me question his judgement...

That sucks, sorry! I have no experience with aviation insurance claims, but I would think the other party is liable for your loss and the only quibbiling would be on agreeing on a value of your aircraft and/or estimating the cost of repairs.
