    Finally restarted my flying lessons.

Simulation is like smoking Wildwood Weed. You can take a trip without ever leaving home.

What is a SWAG for the additional cost of a hangar to an existing home?

Thank you for your replies. I knew it would be more than the 100K my sister estimated, but not how much more.

What is a SWAG for the additional cost of a hangar to an existing home?

My sister is a Colorado real estate agent and she just did a video tour of a hangar home in Erie. What is a rough guesstimate of the cost to build a 100' X 100' hangar with tile floor and insulated walls and ceilings so I can see how if compares to comparable non-hangar homes. Thanks

Unfortunately, around here, "sim" is a trigger word.

Try no medical since 2007. I had lots of life going on all this time. The second home I bought for my in-laws to live in was a money and time sink. Now, just money. When I'm able to sell it (when my mother-in-law moves out) I'll get more money out of it than I put into it. Of course, I won't get...

    Finally restarted my flying lessons.

I just added another 90%. I decided to suspend my membership until I could get into see an ENT about keeping my ears clear on descent. I don't know if that rapid descents are damaging my hearing, but I know it's extremely dangerous not to be able to hear ATC. My Medicare Advantage plan doesn't...

NA - Living trust for real estate

Amen to everything above. In addition, we titled almost everything in both our names when they were titled to the trust. When Tammy died, I got a step up in basis for everything that was jointly titled. Our two houses and the stock in one of the companies I owned got gigantic steps up in basis...

CHAPS C - Clearing Turns either 90 degrees left, then 90 degrees to the right. Or, 180 degrees to the left H - Heading A - Altitude P - Position - Over populated or (relatively) unpopulated area S - Safety - Gas on both, Carb heat as appropriate, Lights on, adjust mixture, breakers in, Master...

This FBO is very regimented. You have to dot all the i's and cross all the t's even if you are past ready to go onto the next step. I am really good at ground reference maneuvers and stalls. Most of my steep turns are within tolerance but my skills there do deteriorate. Slow flight is teaching...

    Finally restarted my flying lessons.

Thank you. Practicing the skills on the simulator that my instructor is trying to teach me has helped, but a lot of people here seem to think simulator is a four-letter-word so in the interest of comity, (not comedy) I'm going to refrain from talking about simulation on this thread. Except to...

    Finally restarted my flying lessons.

When I did my Stage 1 Ground Check Friday, I found out my old combination medical and student pilot certificate are no longer valid. I spent some time on my own over the weekend trying to get it straightened out on my own, with no joy. I called FAA this AM, waited a few minutes and got through...

    Question about adverse yaw

Thank you for the excellent explanation.

    Finally restarted my flying lessons.

I don't do U-Tube (nothing against it, but I have other time sinks). I will post a picture of any Stage 1 Check endorsement I get.

    Question about adverse yaw

I know adverse yaw is the nose moving in the opposite direction of the turn when you use ailerons to bank into a turn.. My first instructor said it was because the outside turn aileron moves down into denser air so creates more drag than the inside aileron moving up into less dense air...

    Finally restarted my flying lessons.

Well, I passed the ground part of my Stage 1 Check yesterday. I was too congested to fly, so we rescheduled for Monday. I already had a plane reserved to fly with Frank, so I bumped him in favor of Matt, the Check CFI. It's been a week since my last lesson, but I nailed the steep turn to the...

    Finally restarted my flying lessons.

Let’s just say I’m getting to experience all kinds of weather rather than just flying on great days. When I get my PPL clouds won’t go from theoretical to real overnight and seeing them up close helps with my aviation knowledge. I don’t know why a lot of you are so dead set against flight...

    Finally restarted my flying lessons.

I don’t think so. If I forget to use the rudder or use it too much chair flying, there’s nothing to tell me I’m not coordinated. ATT least the sim will let me know. Lots of other examples where chair flying falls short. I had a lesson Thursday. There were lots of clouds and we stayed clear. It...

Ugly plane good engine or good looking plane that needs overhaul?

Makes sense, IF you can be guaranteed of the quality of the overhaul. OTOH, buy the plane with the clapped out engine; get the plane discounted by the price of the overhaul, and you'll know what you get in an overhaul.

Ugly plane good engine or good looking plane that needs overhaul?

Makes sense, if you can gaurrantee I hear biplane pilots are even more attractive.
