    Honeycomb Alpha Yoke Problem

Thanks. I didn't realize I was part of the Beta testing group. I think I pretty much have landing in a real airplane down; I just have to work on countering drift as soon as it starts. Rod Machado says a flight simulator is good for developing that skill.

    Honeycomb Alpha Yoke Problem

Thanks for the reply. As far as I can te3ll, you're right. I found this article about them. https://www.thresholdx.net/news/hcbrev It's a shame, the Alpha Yoke was great while it lasted.

    Honeycomb Alpha Yoke Problem

My yoke suddenly started getting sensitive in pitch around the neutral position. Also, the button that allows me to change viewpoint stopped working. (I know it's the yoke because my Eclipse yoke doesn't have that problem. I have an email in to Honeycomb-Aeronautical, but so far no response...

    What's Flying Like in Retirement?

I agree. The closest any family member got to their PPL was Dad's brother, who soloed an ErCoupe. Dad worked on the Boeing B52 flight line and built Cessna 336's and 337's. I spent 20+ years being a responsible husband to my late wife, Tammy, and don't regret a minute of it. Still, if I had...

Light Sport Experimental for "big boys"?

All you need is a miniature wife who packs light.

    Finally restarted my flying lessons.

I had a short (for me) lesson yesterday with another new instructor. Liam was a member of the San Jose State Precision Aerobatic team. I learned a lot from him, and recalled something my very first instructor, from 2001, taught me and no other instructor has mentioned, since. I had another good...

    Finally restarted my flying lessons.

My bad. April. And I plan on passing the stage 1 check when I fly with Matt again.

    Finally restarted my flying lessons.

This is turning into an endurance contest, if it isn't one already. My CFI, Frank, just got a job in Alaska, flying 206's and 297's to small towns. Funny thing, that would probably be what I would have done, eventually, if I hadn't met Tammy and decided love was more important than being an...

    Top Overhaul vs. Full Overhaul

    Thanks.

    Top Overhaul vs. Full Overhaul

I was pursuing some aviation related porn and saw a plane with an engine with about 2300 hours, with a Top Overhaul with about 320 hours. What are the ramifications of not doing a full overhaul around 2000 hours? Is a top OH vs. full OH on an IRAN basis?

    Good data backup software

I've decided to try Perfect Backup. I can set up profiles for all the data I want to backup (essentially everything). I have everything scheduled to run, plus I can manually start the backup whenever I want to. Also, I'm able to run multiple backups simultaneously, something that I couldn't do...

Recommended investments in high interest environments

Start with a diversified portfolio. Let your winners ride. Put new money into underweighted funds. According to one study I’ve seen, that’s the best strategy. Actually, the study found the longer you wait to rebalance, the better your investments will do. You can’t get a much longer than...

Question about Form 706 - Designation of Unused Spousal Exemption (DUSE)

It won’t matter, this year or next, but unless the exemption is extended, it will after that. I plan on living a lot longer than 2 years (don’t we all?). My trust attorney recommended a couple of tax attorneys and one of them is going to help me wade through the paperwork.

    Good data backup software

Apparently, the HDD is dead. I destroyed the adapter to get to it. I have 2 TB SSD coming that will easily fit into an SSD adapter.I should probably have a backup for the backup. I had that at a previous job and it came in handy when the primary backup died. I don't trust Google.

Prepar3D V5 Issue - ATC disabled No Electric

Version V5 was out of date because of Windows updates. I downloaded and installed V6, and the plane was able to taxi on my initial test. There's a way to manually add scenery to the simulator, and that worked. I used a registry hack to make the plane model installers think they are installing to...

    Something I Never Knew

I initially read the author as Kevin Fyre, which would have been appropriate for this article. "Journalists" are not writing for us pilots, as we (usually) have enough common sense to survive flying in light airplanes, but much of their audience needs printed instructions on the heel to be able...
