    Good data backup software

Thank you all for the links. There are a lot of good choices. My data is scattered all over the computer. I have an investments folder, a downloads folder, a documents folder, an Edge bookmarks folder, and Prepar3D puts files all over the place. I have several other folders to be backed up.

    Good data backup software

I used SyncToy, a free utility from Micro$oft for a long time, but it broke when I upgraded Visual Studio from 2019 to 2022. Reinstalling 2019 didn't solve the problem. I found this really fast backup software, FreeFileSync, but every time I run it, it corrupts the backup disk. It's getting...

Prepar3D V5 Issue - ATC disabled No Electric

I tried updating V5 to the latest version, No Joy. I sprang for V6 and downloaded it. Next to install and run it. It seems to be a major upgrade from V5. I just wish I didn't have to buy a new version every year or so because they don't keep legacy versions up to date with Windows changes. I...

Thank you. It's been a while since I read HHGTTG.

    Car Sellers Beware

Thanks all. I plan on having the buyer bring cash and have the Credit Union I do business with count and verify the authenticity of the cash before I proceed. They didn't get anything from me except a few minutes of my time. I guess it boils down to not just being paranoid but being paranoid...

    Car Sellers Beware

I’m selling my 2020 RAV4. I prefer the Lexus I inherited from my wife to it and I only need one SUV. I almost fell for a scheme where they would give me a cashiers check, sight unseen , plus shipping costs. The problem is, and I never thought someone would try to pull it on me; it takes a...

    Finally restarted my flying lessons.

Thank you. I’m splitting my hours between C172 Ms and C172Ps. I have a couple hours in a 180 HP C172L. If Aerodynamic Aviation had different models I’d fly them, too. I’m not ready for the Cutlass.

    Finally restarted my flying lessons.

I suspended my account in December and took January off because of the weather. Yesterday I got tired of waiting for good weather and reactivated my account. Surprisingly enough, there was one CFI available, the one I’ll take my Stage One check flight with, available today. I thought I was...

Why do they say "Anyone can learn how to fly"?

According to the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, flying is easy. You just throw yourself at the ground and miss. (It might take 42 tries unless you have your blanket!)

Prepar3D V5 Issue - ATC disabled No Electric

I tried the above solution, but it did not work. If I save the flight, I can immediately reload it and the electric is back, at least for a while.. Also, it doesn't seem to happen when I'm doing air work but happens when I'm cruising. I haven't tried Ground Reference Maneuvers or being in the...

Prepar3D V5 Issue - ATC disabled No Electric

A quick search suggested I delete the Prepar3D.cfg file and reload the simulator. I've deleted the file and reloaded the simulator. I'm waiting to fly to see if that worked.

Prepar3D V5 Issue - ATC disabled No Electric

I'll probably have to upgrade to Prepar3D V6 to fix this issue, but currently, I can fly my simulator for about 10 minutes before ATC is disable because the Electric Failed. I can save my progress, then exit and reload and the Electric works and ATC is enabled, for another 10 minutes. Has anyone...

Question about Form 706 - Designation of Unused Spousal Exemption (DUSE)

I'm reading Ed Slott's book The New Retirement Savings Time Bomb. It has a lot of good info on how to keep the government from "SECURE"ing as much tax revenue from your estate as possible. I first heard about DUSE while reading this book, and apparently I had 9 months to file the form or the...

If you go SP -> PPL, make sure you do your XC, etc. to PPL standards (SP are shorter) so you don't have to redo them. I started on my SP 2-1/2 years ago but changed over to C-172s when I found that I had to be able to use all the equipment in the plane to pass the checkride, and I could not read...

Charged With DUI When I Wasn’t Driving

Most likely, but it doesn't/shouldn't rise to driving drunk unless you were actually driving.
