    206 Upgrades

In the missionary aviation world of bush flying, they have almost completely gotten away from the conventional gear airplanes. The 206 has been the standard piston plane for many years now.

    206 Upgrades

Trying to understand why you would want to make it a taildragger.

    My Garmin Aera 660 quit.......

It needs to be done through a dealer, most likely. Sometimes the dealer will get the RMA, and have you send the unit directly to Garmin under the RMA, then Garmin will send it to the dealer who will forward it to you. If it's under warranty, then you would need to deal with the dealer you bought...

    Garmin Avionics Shop

I understand that, but I hear of and see quotes and new panels that put the JPI or EI instead of the G3X EIS.

    Garmin Avionics Shop

I always wonder why so many Garmin upgrades end up with a JPI or EI engine monitor. I'm not particularly fond of the G3X engine display, but don't understand why more people don't use it.

Garmin GTN650 + Bendix King Aerocruze problems

I agree with this. However, being an A&P means very little in this case. There are a lot of A&P’s that I wouldn’t let get anywhere near wiring (and wouldn’t want to), and other non-A&P’s who do excellent work. I know some A&P’s that I wouldn’t let touch my airplane in any way except maybe to fly...

Garmin GTN650 + Bendix King Aerocruze problems

Whoever told you that a G5 is required for GPSS is blowing smoke. The Aerocruze will fly GPSS directly from the GTN650. It will couple a GPS approach, but currently it is prohibited from doing so by the flight manual. If it doesn’t do GPSS now it’s either not wired right or is not set up right.

    Need 2D files for Cessna 1963 182F

If you post a picture or two if your panel that would help. I May have a drawing that would work.

G5 and GFC 600 (and GI 275 and G500 TXi)

My understanding of the GFC600 is that it’s stand-alone and doesn’t need any Garmin EFIS to work.

I’m not sure on legality, but I know I wouldn’t use them.

Backup Battery on G5 Appears to be Useless.

If the internal GPS is enabled, then it will be a GPS-based DG when running on backup battery. In a certified plane, I believe the internal GPS requires and external antenna, but I am not sure. It will also act as a PFD on backup battery.

    transponder question...

The GTX345 does not need the FS210.

    transponder question...

The GTX345 doesn't give you better information than you get from your Stratus if you are using the iPad. It will display on an IFR navigator, which the Stratus 3 will not, but if you are using your iPad for ADS-B In, then the Stratus transponder would work great, and with the interface kit the...

WTB a used Garmin GTX330ES or GTX 375

I have a GTX330ES. I would let it go for $2,000 + shipping CONUS. You would need a WAAS GPS position source for it.

    IFR C150 upgrades [help]

The next guy who buys the plane from you might feel he same way, so equipping for your needs will likely find someone else who wants to just buy and fly.

And the Garmin 430W Rides Off Into the Sunset

Sorry for the delay in replying. He only difference is the tray size and backplate. You can unscrew the connectors from the back of the 430 tray and screw them right into the back of the 540 or 550 tray. As long as you have the extra 2” of height, then you’re good to go. as for the added wires...

Garming GNC355/GPS175/GNX 375 Database Update Erros

Is there any way you loaded the database that goes active on Thursday? It often lets you download the upcoming database, and it will show not-current until the beginning date comes around. If you are just looking at the Navdata and it shows yellow, that could be the reason. The obstacles...

    Avionics Master Switch Brand

Some planes have a switch and a relay. Others have a switching breaker (25-35A depending on the load) that feeds the avionics bus. The later is the easiest way, and you shouldn't need to shield that switching breaker. The P&B W31 is the most common switching breaker I see.
