I believe he was told to extend his pattern a bit to accommodate an L39 he was behind. I doubt that was too slow for him, but I'm sure it added another level of complexity that could have resulted in overshooting base-to-final and ended up getting slow in a banked turn.

I believe I saw where he had run himself out of fuel in an incident once before on Kathryn's Report. The Lancair ES isn't reportedly as bad as something like the IV/IV-P, but it's still slippery like a Cirrus so I'm sure it requires you to be on top of the speeds pretty closely.

Just curious, what about letting the generator run overnight presents an issue for you? As long as you aren't putting it in a garage or other spot where carbon monoxide is a concern, what is the risk?

Put the generator on a dolly and wheel it out to where you need it. Run an extension cord into the house through a window and just use a towel or some foam to seal the bottom of the window across the bottom where the cord passes through. No point in buying a 40lbs battery backup when you...

Do keep in mind that this aircraft likely weighs around 1,000lbs, so about the same as a Harley Davidson cruiser/Honda Goldwing with a couple of riders on it. No one is likely to become a crater if he hits a house/car/tree. As to the noise, how often is the pilot coming by in a each given instance?
