A barbecue adventure, the saga unfolds.

This was not my handywork, but this was the labor day bbq at #1 son's house. Smoked tri tip and beef short ribs. Some of the short ribs were grilled, and some were smoked. Both came out decently, mostly because of the marinade and the strip cut. I tried grilling standard bone in short ribs...

California is a governor's signature away from banning 100LL in 2031

Alright. I will self ban myself tonight for the transgression. No need to act, mods.

Love the state, f*****g hate the governor and assembly

The older mountain bike thread but now a road bike review update

That's a good idea, but they won't have the one I need. But no matter, I found one on Ebay. I just had to get the exact model of my caliper.

Nothing wrong with a good kabob. Sometimes I do sticks of beef and chicken. I'm not sure what cuts of lamb would be best, but lamb kabob in souvlaki sauce is bomb. The store carries mostly legs, shanks and chops.

That looks good. I have a tri tip and chicken thighs waiting for tonight's grill session.

Rio Linda L36 (not Rio Vista) - PIREP

It looks worse than it is. I did my last BFR out of Rio Linda, and we took off to the South, did some maneuvers and returned without talking to Norcal. If you stay West of SAC's delta, then you're perfectly lined up for a right pattern 17, which will nine times out of ten be the preferred...

Oh by the way, if you see a damaged Arrow II sitting on the tarmac missing its prop, it was mine.

2 inches bigger and I am having trouble making it fit

I never found an Ipad mount solution that worked for me in the cockpit. Kneeboard on the right leg, Ipad on the left. I had enough peripheral vision that I could follow the magenta line easy enough. Hate to say it, but the $500 Ipad with Foreflight worked better than the $10,000 panel mount 430...

    Mosquitoes

I still remember the gray Navy pickup that would drive through the neighborhood near sundown in Puerto Rico blasting DDT in the air to quell the mosquitoes. We lived on the edge of a mangrove swamp. Don't get caught there at the wrong time of day or the blood could literally be drained from your...

    Test your Taste

If you like your pineapple on pizza, you can have your pineapple on pizza. That's... pretty much the size of it. Just don't put it on mine.

    Bicycles in planes

That's impressive, no doubt. I think the longest mountain bike ride I've ever done is 40+ miles. Don't get me wrong, I like the concept of the Montague. A full size, fully functional bike that folds.

    Bicycles in planes

I would certainly consider a Montague for short (under 20 mile) off-airport transportation, but those aren't a replacement for carbon roadies. I could (and have) fit a road bike in the Arrow. It's not easy. With the rear seats removed, it would be a lot easier, and two could probably be...

    Lets make Friday 'Joke Day'!

Q: Why was the police dog fired? A: Because the whole time the suspect was in the basement, he kept shouting "Roof, roof!"

What would you do if you won $100k?

I don't know why I would treat it any differently than regular earnings and distributions. It would end up in my main investment account.

    N/A Winekeeping

My pub uses these rubber stopper things that create a partial vacuum when pushed down on the wines they don’t sell regularly. But once oxidation starts, it doesn’t stop. Buy mini bottles??

The older mountain bike thread but now a road bike review update

Okay this is a Shimano Ultegra DI2 rubber dust cover for the brake bleeder valve. The fitting is recessed in the brake caliper. I am missing one. If I go on the Zon to try to find a replacement, the only ones I can find are for non-recessed bleeders, which are foldover affairs. But I also find...
