What exactly is the correct tool? We did get the old one off, but just by sticking a metal rod into the little hole in the side of the nose piece. I feel there has to be a better way, as when you apply any significant force this elongates the hole.

That's because one of the wires from the top one had broken off.

Looks like the parts in each assembly are identical with the exception of the body; the 182 body is -13, and the 172 body is -7. They look the same in the photos though! Might see if anyone nearby has a 172 who'd let me borrow their pitot for a comparison.

Indeed, that was the main reason for the change. Hard to get a decal over the latch and have it look good.

Basically nothing. GA is pretty concentrated into what we think of as "The West" (incl Australia and NZ), and parts of southern Africa.

Outside of little rural fields in Europe, or smaller fields in the US, getting mogas onto an airport is a massive hassle or even impossible, especially in any significant quantity. Using Jet A is just so much easier.

They're also churning out 80 year old products, with 80 year old quality control.

I will definitely be getting one of these for the 182 once the 235hp version and FWF kit is available - assuming early operating data from the lower power versions looks good. It is an absolute gamechanger for my kind of flying, where availability of Avgas is often the biggest challenge.
