Cheapest way to build retract time

oh, you'll love the arrow these days for a budget purchase! tee hee. Jest aside, don't do [any of] it, legacy retract spam land is a minefield of old timey nostalgia and the hard truth of loss of support in the 21st century. The question is moot anyways. Retract time won't materially help...

Hurricane Hunting in a Lear Jet

and for the uninitiated who aren't tracking, the real hazard to topping weather isn't the high altitude, it's the single engine drift down back to the "you should be nice to the people you pass on the way up, for you'll be meeting them again on the way down...." altitudes. :D Remember bois...

Get A&P license to maintain own Airplane

I know this topic is tired and a rehash, but again this comes down to the dog chasing the tail. If they unencumbered the damned things off the for-revenue categorization, say a la experimental amateur built, the maintenance regulatory piece (and thus the certificate arse-jumping to wrench writ...

Upcoming AD for many more PA-28 and PA-36 wing spars. 100 anomalies and 6 cracked wings found

what in the swang song, people be blowing up my DMs with hyperlin---ooooooooh... well, gonna need a running start for this one... P.S. I owe Lycoming an apology. Even when I thought that grey thing tried to kill me.... turns out it was trying to save all along. And it did...

Nan Chang CJ-6A mid-air LA County

The accident also highlights the specious nature of manual bailout on these contraptions as a plan B, when it comes to trading paint/shredding control surfaces. Even what I do at work is lined with a safety net (well other than the fiat the seat has been maintained properly, which isn't a...

Nan Chang CJ-6A mid-air LA County

A provocative rhetorical question to be sure. Though I have my opinion on it, the answer is of little import to me. The one thing I do value and I'm willing to state publicly, is I support the right of recreationalists to kill themselves in the gratuitous pursuit of recreation. As someone who...

[NA] How prevalent is lying about insurance?

There should be some liability for misrepresenting insurance status when it comes to contracting for work, in the event of collateral damage to limb or property. A contract made on deceptive grounds should not be the customer's burden. Good on ya for exercising extra due dilligence though.

    B-1B, Ellsworth, all eject

Red herring in the aggregate. That guy's a shoe[clerk]. His scope of responsibility is largely immaterial to Ops, beyond support for dependents and member pay et al. They didn't crash because Air Force finance, travel pay and other associated offices under the force support squadron umbrella...

    B-1B, Ellsworth, all eject

oof, planned relocation to Grand Forko in 2025 to prep Ellsworth for the B-21. Talk about morale killer. The black hills to essentially Minot East. hoo boi, them 7-day opts are gonna sky rocket.

    Puerto Rico - USDA Inspections?

you got it. USDA during posted hours is the easiest, assuming the ports of entry with airline service (SJU, BQN, PSE). I wouldn't call transiting through SJU "free" though. The FBO stop is probably steep there. But from a convenience perspective I agree it's probably the most straight forward...

Delta knocks tail off other plane on ground

yup, know that unit more than well. Put the BUFF in buffoons. For context, they were shining their rear with that crab walk. It wasn't a malfunctioning crosswind crab like they tried to sell the bosses back home ...before those brit planespotting nerds put the evidence on youboob in 4K HD that...

Delta knocks tail off other plane on ground

Yup, you just described tuesday at the ffd carriers. Hell, even swa does things like that for a living. The punchline of course is, you can drive it faster lol. (iah-sat in my present case, but ive done the atl-bhm shuffle too for years).

Delta knocks tail off other plane on ground

In the context of the bellyaching about proximity radar/cameras being too costly/onerous to implement, I figured wingwalkers for certain wingspans wouldn't be the end of the world. I do concede my bias having operated an exceedingly ground handling handicapped slant heavy for a while...

Delta knocks tail off other plane on ground

It's not that deep. It's largely not viewed as a problem, so firms prefer not to incur the [certification et al] costs. Latter which are unnecessarily outsized in the first place. Two things can be true at the same time type of thing. In the conext of this accident what does strike me as...

Delta knocks tail off other plane on ground

None of the crews are losing their job, or getting a *post-facto training failure added to their airman file, so what inducement is there for any of this to matter? *In the military, they checker/mess up your FEF (flight evaluation folder in blue bird parlance, e.g. checkride records) after the...
