Huh, maybe I should add support for MGRS. 11 characters is more than I allow for identifiers in the database (currently limited to 6), but no inherent reason I couldn't support this natively. I'll investigate

    what's MGRS?

Three suggestions, not mutually exclusive: Go ahead and make up an identifier; it's fine if something in your Route doesn't match anything in the database. You can also use @###N####W notation (or S/W). E.g., @36.18N111.80W is the grand canyon. It will map if you do this. If you...

Not sure your account (send me your email at myflightbook@gmail.com?) so I can't look at the flight track, if available, but my guess is that it's false positive landings from spotty GPS signal. I use the GPS speed to distinguish takeoff from landing, so some low-speeds reported by the...

yes - helps avoid naming conflicts with flying machines and with other sims entered by other pilots.

If the LTP export you have has fields at the top that look like "flight_xxx" and "aircraft_xxx" then you should be able to import things more or less directly. That said, it's not a bad idea to get your aircraft all imported and in order first, since when I import your flights I look at the...

Perhaps, but what you describe suggests to me using the pause/play functionality. If you do autodetection, you can press the green pause button when you shut down and when you start up again, press play. When auto-total (from engine, flight, or block time) computes your total time at the end...

On the first issue - if you hhave to tap flight start, then why not tap "start" and forget about the engine noise? Perhaps a cleaner model is the true block off/on model, with no need for microphone: do engine start/stop and auto-detect block off/on based on motion. So you tap engine start...

About logged entries: I confess I don't know chapter/verse about any regulations around that. Typically in that scenario the CFI does indeed sign the flight (often fills it in for you, to ensure that the requisite training is logged with the correct wording and such), but I'm actually not sure...

it is helpful, actually. I have another feature on the request list that requests a reminder if you've been stopped for more than a minute or two; same idea.

    The MyFlightBook thread

Funny, I've had that request before, and it's been sitting on my list for a long time, but there are two things I've never figured out. One is relatively simple: I'd need to figure out when to arm/disarm listening, so that I'm not draining the battery when you're at home, or doing false...

(If you mark the flight as public, everyone can see the route). Anyhow, what you're seeing is an artifact of the fact that I get my data from a wide variety of (free) sources. Sometimes that data has small inconsistencies. In this case, if you map the flight from JKV to KJSO, you'll see that...

Tracking of flight times - MyFlightBook vs Foreflight logbook

Indeed, but should emphasize that this is the definition for civilian flight under FAA rules; other jurisdictions use other rules.

A question about logging point to point cross country

Indeed. So MyFlightbook lets you search for "non-local" flights. The resulting totals are your part 135 xc time.

A question about logging point to point cross country

I love the idea, but no - I don't do that. :) And to be clear, I agree that seems creepy. I fill in xc if (a) you fill in the route field and hit autofill on the website, or (b) if you use auto-detection in the mobile apps (which fills in the route field for you) and I see a 50nm distance.

    Preferred logbook?

The app caches your aircraft. Tap the refresh icon at the top of the aircraft list page. The apps can auto fill total time based on your choice of sources. I like to use engine time.

    Preferred logbook?

I personally did that, but it is indeed a bit tedious. I'd suggest copying the comments for key/notable flights and otherwise focusing on the numbers. Another option, which I did with my old paper logbooks: I scanned them into a PDF file and uploaded that to Training->Endorsements.
