Indeed, that's how. They need to click either click on the link in the email they receive or simply go to Training->Students and they should see the pending request(s).

    Myflightbook & Recap

I should have replied sooner; been somewhat offline. Yes, MyFlightbook has had this for years and years. Go to Training->Achievements and scroll down. By default, it shows you all time, but you can select previous year to get the recap for the previous year. Note that if you subscribe to the...

    Electronic Logbook?

MyFlightbook is free - and open source - and doesn't try to make money so it can't go under. You could even run your own instance if you were so inclined. It also can back up to a spreadsheet, either on your computer or in the cloud. (Disclaimer - I'm the author).

I can confirm that the site is up, stable, and at least at the moment performing quite snappy on a cellular connection. I think there may have been some network storm earlier today, because looking at the last 12 hours of CPU usage on both the server and the database, it's all prretty ho-hum...

FWIW, where I was on cell network this morning (western WA) showed multiple bars (T-Mobile), but I was timing out on lots of websites. So it's possible there's some network storms between you (and me) and the server? It's all fast on my wifi right now...

I've also been noticing some slowness this morning, but I'm not sure why. CPU and database are both well below 50% utilization, should all be snappy.... And I can confirm: cell network should be more than adequate.

Send me the email you use on myflightbook (to myflightbook-at-gmail-.dot-com, if you like) and I can check what's happening?

    The MyFlightBook thread

Yeah, it was all about finding a free piece of open source software precisely so that I didn't have to do all of that engineering. :) Of course, note that the main "Visited Airports" map uses google maps and so is completely scalable/pannable/etc. But I couldn't find an (easy) way to do region...

Use the Notes field for this: No need for a scribble signature because you are already authenticated to access this. But the notes get captured in the change history.

New fun feature today, though I'll call it "beta" due to some limitations: a map that colors in where you've visited. Tell me what you think! Colored Maps.

    Electronic Logbook questions

FYI, MyFlightbook *does* have a starting totals tool to help you create a small set of placeholder flights to capture your starting totals.

Heh, heh, no (but I'm flattered at the thought). But I thought if you pressed the "REC" button on the foreflight page it will run in the background?

Follow-up: ja_user graciously let me share the results of my deep-dive into his logbook; I'm sharing it here because I think it will be interesting on this thread... Super. OK, here's what I'm seeing (using data from my site backup of yesterday morning, which seems at first blush to match...

Correct, no need to log anything special, but this code is complex. Do me a favor? I’m traveling in Europe until the weekend. Please email me (myflightbook@gmail.com) on Saturday or Sunday and I can look at the code against your specific logbook data and figure out what is or isn’t triggering. Thx

    The MyFlightBook thread

Hmmm...I *do* support 61.57(e)(4), which looks suspiciously identical to this. Too early here in the morning (traveling in Portugal at the moment) for me to do a word-by-word comparison for any subtle differences, but just doing a quick alt-tab back-and-forth between the pages I'm not noticing...

    How to prevent lost logs?

to be clear, MyFlightbook does flight logs (i.e., your flights), not aircraft logs (inspections, AD compliance, etc.)

Does this flight count for the Comm 300/250NM long XC?

@midlifeflyer - I love this, thank-you. You have beautifully articulated this and - I'm relieved to say - validated precisely how I implement this in MyFlightbook. The way that you tell MyFlightbook it is "a flight" is by encapsulating it in a single entry. Multi day is fine (just use the...

    myflightbook

Mark did my product support for me here (thanks, Mark!). Indeed - when you created a set of catch-up flights, it's just a set of flights like any other in your logbook. But I'm not quite following your scenario here: if you used the MyFlightbook starting totals tool, then it only created catch...

    myflightbook

If you used the starting totals feature on MyFlightbook, search for "CATCH". The totals are held in placeholder flights that contain "CATCH-UP FLIGHT". Or, just click on a column header to sort your flights by that column (sort is ascending by default; click it a second time to sort...

I have now flown on every day in the year!

Functionality is live now. Again, the graph only handles about 330 elements, but the entire 366 data set is available onscreen and for download into a spreadsheet. So if you want to see the days on which you flew solo, or gave instruction, or flew at night, you can do that.
