    Departure with non-functional "glass" legal?

Like I said the PFD has to be working to take off, if the MFD is in rev. Mode it IS the PDF. You will not have a MFD if it is in rev mode. Only PFD and engine instruments, there will be no MFD only a small inset map and you will have no ground speed info. Quote: Originally Posted by Gsim...

Check the POH and it has it in the Limitations list KOEL 2-10. You can with the MFD in rev. Mode showing it as a PFD. "PFD backlight must be working, if not MFD must be in rev. mode showing engine instruments for day VFR."

    Departure with non-functional "glass" legal?

The Reversion mode will go to PFD or MFD if one dispay is not working, there would be no reason to press the button. You can not get a display to be a MFD unless it sees a complete PFD up, by the either net.

    Departure with non-functional "glass" legal?

NO. You can not depart with out the PDF and engine instruments up and working. That applies to all G1000 Cessna's

    Shadin Altitude Management system (xpost)

The KAP140 uses the gray code from the encoder or in your case the Shadin could be the encoder and that is what you are changing. Installer may have intercepted the gray code from the encoder and then fed to the KAP, that does not sound like how the system should work per the TC.

    Cleared for the G1000!

"5) Avidyne Rel 9 will give the G1000 a run for the money. They really knocked it out of the park. Once they finish developing the autopilot, that is." Yes, but there is no OEM that will use it, so I do not see it in anything but retro.

    Cleared for the G1000!

"3) The new G1000 with GFC700 A/P is spectacular. Spend an hour learning how to exploit the integrated VNAV capabilities and you'll never want to fly anything else. " That is true, the G1000/GFC700 is a true FMS using WAAS, instead of DME DME VOR like the older FMS.

    Cleared for the G1000!

Max T and most other training books are too far behind the software that they are not much help but only the basics. The SW in most aircraft change each year and it is like getting new avionics each time on some upgrades. The PILOTS GUIDE (Big Book not the cockpit guide) that is online from...

    Garmin 696 geo-referenced charts

Yes you would be paying twice. But because they present it in a better way, they sell their charts well. In reality the government charts may even cost more to produce then Jepp, it is our taxes pay most of the cost of them.
