    Mag STC for Cessna R/TR182

It was another shop's baby to deal with, something I didn't have time to do... I'm only a consultant to operations there, as I don't have enough time be a paid employee ;-)

    Mag STC for Cessna R/TR182

All things are possible, until the gov't gets involved... Lol!

    Craftsman tools.

Lol, maybe I just overlooked them before, but I'm pretty sure this display was new...

    Cardinal Autopilot

I installed the 2-axis (roll & yaw) Brittain stabilization system (CSA-1 / B-11 Accutrak) in my 172H about six years ago, and I love it. Dead simple, light, and the company is super friendly. They don't have an STC to add the Pitch axis (PC/AHII - Pitch Stabilization and Altitude Hold System)...

    Garmin 106A vs KI-206?

Yep, sorry... I should have chosen my words better. The STC'd version is what I really mean...

She's been a sitter, probably needs a Top Overhaul??

Top overhaul? Budget $6k - $10k. But, the good news: I've personally seen airplanes that were stored outside in humid environments, with flat tires, and mildew growing all over them fly again with only a weekend's worth of scrubbing and inspections. (A 250hp Commanche nontheless). My...

    Craftsman tools.

UPDATE: I stopped by my local ACE hardware, and they had added a very nice set of Craftsman tools. Even the individual sockets and wrenches... Maybe there is a good side to this!

    Mag STC for Cessna R/TR182

Yes they can... For now... My aero club just had one overhauled a month ago, very few people want to work on them. This overhaul was $2k (Plus a $1k core charge). Then 10 hours later, it was sent back to the repair station to do it again. The internal shaft had actually twisted (3rd part...

Can an a&p remove/reinstall xpndr after testing?

Lol, it takes no certificates to remove something from the airplane. However, it takes an "appropriately rated person" to return that aircraft to service afterward... What if your nifty transponder has the encoder built in? Lol... Nuances...

    Garmin 106A vs KI-206?

Do you mean we expect the TSOd G5 with the HSI option that might come in the future? AFAIK, the TSOd G5 currently won't act as a CDI or HSI from what I've seen. (I'm not 100% on it).

    Re-using drained fuel?

I know a guy that ran 20 gallons of 100L (mixed with 24 more gallons of unleaded) through his 1999 Suburban back in July. The truck ran great, although the "check engine" light came on toward the end of the tank. Two refills later (about 1000 miles) it reset itself... I won't testify that the...

    SL40 bezel separating

Not all glues are created equal.. I would think that some sort of clear adhesive, lightly applied (and one that won't melt the plastic) might do the trick. Of course YMMV!

    Craftsman tools.

Sears has been going downhill for the last 20 years, and taking the Craftsman line with it. However, I have oodles of Craftsman tools! Conversely, HFT has been steadily improving for at least the last decade, and I would put many of their pro series polished lifetime-warranty handtools on par...

    SL40 bezel separating

Would a dot of some sort of magic sealant on a q-tip rubbed around the edge of the lens and then blue masking taped into place overnight fix it? I think a guy might be willing to try that before sending it off for a $550 flat rate repair.

    Minor alteration rules

Having worked my way through the approval process for a non-certified doodad lately, I can tell you from experience that NORSEE is a process for manufacturers of widgets. It's not intended to be used by your average bubba to gain approval of cool tech that you want to install. Fast forward to...
