Rough River dos mil veinticinco (that’s 2025 en Español) 2I3 - 4/25 - 4/27

I’m going to book. Hope I can make it. Plane going in for paint, and then the annual. We’ll see. :fcross:
you could'a just said "I'll be out of town"..........

Booked. Mention POA or they will tell you there is no room at the inn.

their cancellation policy is much better than gaston's, but I don't recall it specifically. I think it's like a day or two before, full refund but don't quote me.
48 hours she said, when I made my reservation just now. And yes, I just quoted you.

Fingers crossed I'll have my airplane back up by then. I don't think Teresa will ride that far in the Cessna.

there was potentially a bigger issue going on. there is a new group sales person there who took over for Mary. she sent me a 6 page contract to sign for the event which had some crazy shtuff in there. I said nope, won't be signing that. they had some crazy stipulations in there like if the group has music or a radio or something that might have copyright implications they would charge us $25. I laughed and said you're going to charge us if we play the radio????? she said well, maybe we need to update what's in this contract lol. I also said she may be misunderstanding what we do. we're just a bunch of hooligans who meet up, we're not like some kind of sponsored group or have vendors or anything lke that. she said the contract is mainly to hold/guarantee spots at the discounted rate for a specified timeframe. I said that normally happens like this: "you have one month to book under the discounted rate, after that the spots open up at regular rate" and I said we have always been fine with that. I also mentioned they never guaranteed that we'd get all the cabins in one area, as we've had outsiders staying in cabins in our area. finally, I brought up the cancellation policy and said I hope she understands that we're mostly weather dependent, and we all understand that going in that there is potential for having to cancel last minute. she stated they will do their best not to penalize anyone who cancels due to weather. so, that conversation was fun but I think we got it worked out.

Also just made my reservation and was cheerfully told about the cancellation policy :D

I did just have a thought though ... if we're flying in do they have parking and tie-downs for all or do we need to bring our own solution?

I'm also curious about what we do as a group if we run into weather issues like @eman1200 is taking about in the above post? Is the event cancelled? do some folks drive? I'm just a lowly vfr guy and weather is my enemy lol ...

as for cancellations, it's really no different than anywhere you fly to.....it's a risk we all accept that we may have to cancel and that may incur some type of fee from the resort if it's last minute. the first year of the event I couldn't leave on day one because it was freakin HAILING here. HAIL. in my 17 years here it's hailed exactly one time. since I agreed to split a cabin with someone, I still paid for that night even though I didn't go, because that's just the way it goes. last year or maybe the year before the weather was a little crappy but everyone still made it.

as for tiedowns, if I recall they have chocks there, I actually don't recall if they have ropes or not. I also don't recall either being an issue for anyone. I think I have spare ropes in the plane but haven't used them yet. there's a convenient parking lot for planes and so far we've been able to fit them all. there's probably room on the grass somewhere but we haven't needed that yet. there's also 3 other airports very close by if for some reason we needed to park planes elsewhere. they're close enough to be able to shuttle folks back and forth, but again we haven't needed that yet.

IIRC there are tie-down anchors but no ropes.

The lady I talked to gave me the group rate, which I think is like $20 off the price listed on the web. Discount number does not work on the web. She wouldn't guarantee the first ring of cabins, but said she put a request on my reservation. That's how it's been in the past as well. Feels like the discount may be a little better this year.
if the group has music or a radio or something that might have copyright implications they would charge us $25
LOL

You must have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night!
