Actually I think it will get frozen enough to land a plane there, but it's just too late in the season now and the weather just not reliable enough for all the effort required.
Had a really fun visit - 26 degrees and sunny, constant stream of planes in and out and lots of folks just around enjoying the day. Really glad I wore my ice spikes. Saw more than one person go down hard.
Oddity of the day, A Yak-18T but there was a wide mix of planes from Bonanza to Cubs.
And one approaching it was so bright it was hard to see the image on the phone.
Good times! Neat to watch the planes land heading north, right over where we parked. More than a few pilots had to add a little throttle on short final. Air traffic was pretty well behaved when I flew in, everyone coordinating nicely.
