Talked briefly with the owner today and he asked if I knew anybody that might be interested. Told him I'd post this in a couple of locations. I don't know much about the plane but it sounds OK when it runs and I have watched it fly. It looks rough and I have no idea what the engine time is. The one photo of the hobbs appears to show 477.6 but I'm sure that's not correct. Not sure what it's worth but asking price and contact information are in the photos below. Located at 6J2 (St. George, SC):

sundowners are great planes. Depending on the needs during its annual it could be a great first plane for someone

Where are the log books? What is TTAF and SMOH? These are things that would be high on my list.

why can't any of these deals be in my backyard

Found the 2020 listing (no price).
TT was 3949.8
Engine was: 1766.0
Prop was: 537.7

Something does not add up.
Plus will need donuts soon (if not already)

Post # 10 is a photo of a flyer I found today in the airport office.

Where did you find a 2020 listing for this airplane? It appears that Chip bought it then but I cannot find a listing.

Curious ...

They are indeed, and I love my B23, but this one looks like it’s going to require major investment right away. The paint isn’t a mere cosmetic issue is this case, since so much is missing. That’s $20k-$25k right off the bat. The donuts are shot, the engine is run out, the avionics are old and may need replacing. I would want to know about AD status, but I’d bet there are going to be some airframe issues to address, especially if it still has black ducts.

This could be a good project plane but I’d probably want to get the price down some.

I'd want the price to come down a bit more than "some." I'm thinking a great deal on paint would be at least 15K and the engine ~25K. Upgrading the panel is gonna hurt and as you have noted, there's no way to know if there are any gotchas waiting to be discovered.

It could be a great plane and may end up being a good deal depending on a few factors. I've watched it fly a few times and it seems to do well but that don't mean much when we're talking about spending money! Yours looks great now & it appears well loved and cared for so maybe this one will find a loving owner with deep pockets ...

Man, you really put the ‘downer’ in sundowner. Sheesh!

:)

Would you please report back?

Sure, but it may be more than a few days. He's been at the airport for about four years and I've put eyes on him maybe three times. I believe the plane is for sale for medical reasons ...
