I hear AOPA talking about how Bahama inbound fees increased 3x and 6x outbound. Does anyone know how much the fees are for a piston single? And are you still subject to those fees on a technical stop just landing to refuel?

The inbound fee for a piston single with not more than four seats for a "recreational flight" is $150. You will also have to pay $31 per person (including the pilot) outbound when leaving the Bahamas. These fees will be charged for fuel stops. You may also be charged a landing fee. The term "recreational flight" has not been defined. If the customs officer determines, in his or her infinite wisdom, that the flight is not recreational, the $300 fee increases to $300. Outrageous!!

It is interesting that the inbound fee for a commercial airliner with hundreds of passengers is only $50. That's Bahamian logic.

Thanks! But you said if it's not recreational, the $300 fee increases to $300? And what else could it be defined as if not recreational?

So would a couple of daily island excursions incur all of these fees at all the stops?

No, it's the entry/depart country call that incurs the customs fee. You get the form stamped that gives you landing permits for interisland if you intend to hop around.

They probably figured since turks and caicos has been successfully scalping the "this is fine" dog crowd for years, in a world of hobson's choices, you only have to be one dollar cheaper than T&C and people will pay it.

In silver lining news, 100LL looks to have gone down from the insanity of 2023 (12 bucks+) to a less contemptuous $8.75. gEe Aye bE thRiVinG y'all! /s

There is no silver lining. A value added tax (VAT) of 10% is added to the price of 100LL. Accordingly, if the posted proce is $8.75 per gallon, you will pay $9.63 per gallon.

The landing fee may be charged at each airport.
