POA,

I bought a BATD from Gleim last year. At the time, the gal I spoke to said they were working on multi engine approval for a specific aircraft, I think Baron. Because of this I bought an upgraded throttle quadrant. Approval was expected this year. I asked them about this last week on facebook, no response yet.

Has anyone else heard of this or know anything? Or, did they tell me a lie to increase sales by a couple hundred?

Thank you.

Hi, I also have the Gleim BATD I purchased back in 2020. I heard they were working on an XPlane 12 update for the next issuance of the LOA and other aircraft were in the works, but no details. I imagine we'll hear something next year before the LOA expires.

Hi everyone.
XP12 is not very close to being FAA approved, it has many issues that have to be resolved before FAA will accept it.
XP11 @4RNB runs well and you can easily modify your single to multi, all you need is the multi (dual) throttle control. Many different exist from $100.00++
You will not have the book, courses... but still good for practice and just get info from inet, if you cannot create your own course.

XP12 needs a very powerful system, at least 14900, 4090, 64MB RAM... and it still does not run very smoothly, which is an FAA requirement, the instrument panel is very dark for most users, and you cannot see the knobs / controls, to change freqs...

They seem to have some type of polish logic gong on that I've never seen from them before, wrong priorities like boats, grass, trees...

It is likely due to some of the people that left and the new ones cannot fill the void and continue the development using the the base code from the old sim?

Just a word of caution here. The only approved aircraft at this time on the Gleim BATD to log instrument currency are the Cessna 172 steam and G1000 that come with the BATD. There is a windows account for the non-approved side where you can perform limited installations like additional aircraft in a separate copy of XPlane.

Maybe an unpopular opinion, however…

I’ve spent a bit of time with playing with the Gleim sims helping a local non-profit that has a couple. I can’t honestly believe they are certified. So beyond cheap feeling and the Honeycomb products I’ve read so much about over the years, is no better than the old, cheap CH products yokes, etc.

If this is approved, they ought to give a pathway to approve home built sims or just let any sim become a BATD without need of approval and just appropriate CFI approval.

Having used CH and Honeycomb products, the Honeycomb is miles above anything else at that price point.
