KFUL - Mooney crash Fullerton, California


The moment you hit something, it’s basically a projectile. Including a high G impact on the road in this case. Lucky forced landing of the year. Turn back to the airport, prop is windmilling. Started a glide a little over one minute into the flight.
Only lesson I can get is to turn to the threshold and aim for the middle of the runway, you can always slip it down quicker. bbchien: Judging from the force of the landing, I would be surprised if back injuries weren't a part of the recovery for the crew.

Hitting that fire hydrant saved their lives I think. Spun the plane around last minute
Yeah. First the wingtip hitting the pole spun it little left aiming it right at the tree then the hydrant to the right avoiding the head on collision
 
They were doing good until the light pole strike. Fortunately no fire. No fuel?
