This is my first post on this forum. Little background.
1. I'm not a pilot, but I'm in love with everything aviation!
2. My father was a pilot for 50 years and I grew up in and around planes.
3. My best friend is an Air Force pilot
4. We live near an Air Force base and every time a plane flies over I run outside to look
5. Lastly, my wife and I just bought a restaurant AT AN AIRPORT terminal. SKY Restaurant @ Billard Airport in Topeka, Kansas.

We've been open for 5 months and this last weekend was the best! We had over 20 planes come into the airport and everyone stayed to eat at our restaurant. We were so excited to host the pilots and their families and want to extend a personal invite to anyone that is in the Northeast Kansas area. Come see us! It's an easy airport to get in and out of and has a great FBO.PXL_20240917_194240645 (1).jpgPXL_20241123_185302271.jpgPXL_20241122_155632635.jpgPXL_20240713_005820185 (1).jpg

Sweet! I’ve been in and out of TOP many times before, and had breakfast and lunch at the previous diner.

I forgot it’s totally new. I need to check it out. Thanks for the reminder!

I was at the FBO a few months back for work., I didn't have a chance to eat but the new restaurant looks very nice.
Stop on in for breakfast or lunch (BRUNCH. On Saturday and Sunday). Dinners on Thursday - Saturday

You never know who will show up

I landed there a long time ago during the KS primary voting period. I landed and taxied in to park and there were cops in cars and motorcycles, and black SUVs parked all over the ramp. I had to taxi slowly past all that, and a jet pulled up behind me. Rick Santorum got out, along with his family, they all got into an SUV, and the motorcade headed off to wherever the show was, maybe at the capitol. But, being me, I waved at him before he got in the vehicle and he gave me a thumbs up. So I have that going for me, which is nice.

The line guy that marshaled the jet into parking said, “I didn’t even get a chance to put on my Obama mask!” I went inside the FBO, on the way to the cafe, and there was an Obama mask on the counter. The line guy said, “What, did you think I was kidding?”

Might make a great flyin next spring for the Colorado Pilots Assoc.
Please let us know... We've love to host your association! Maybe even a partnered event with our Topeka Air Explorer Squadron located at TOP.

One of our objectives is to bring interest in aviation to this next generation. Let me know how we can make such an event awesome!

Haha... What a great story!

I texted my brother about your new restaurant. He used to live in Topeka and I would sometimes fly in with my kids to meet him and his son for breakfast at the old cafe. So we have good memories of Billard.

His only question was, “Still have big pancakes?” We used to laugh about the look on his son’s face after he ordered the pancake and it was bigger than the plate. That little guy dug right in. Now that kid is flying helicopters.

I saw your online menu a little while ago. It looks like you really have a nice place.

Pancakes..YES. I'm positive if you ask Crystal for a special "face-size" pancake.... She'll make it happen!

Nice!! I’ll have to visit some time, since apparently my airplane has already been there. Far left end of the line in that second pic…

My plane, the yellow RV-12 with Woodstock on the tail. There are four of us flying it, and our EAA chapter had a fly-out to your place over the weekend. One of my partners flew it down there. Next to it is another 12 belonging to a friend of mine (gorgeous red and silver one - much nicer than ours), and I think that's Jim Beyer's RV4 on the other end of the row. I know who was flying that PA32 and the RV-9A too. Don't recognize the Bo.

Was looking at the menu... pretty Cajun for Northeast Kansas. Not complaining. Just an unexpected observation.
