I think it's simple. SA first floated the most insulting, offensive tactic possible, the "FU" option, and thought we would be thankful when they backed off a little and their actions were just insulting and offensive.
On that note, since they are giving us the FU option, this is for anyone reading, don’t forget to go give a 1 star review of the app on the App Store!I think it's simple. nothingSo what am I missing?
I got their latest email yesterday and just chuckled. They keep trying to claim that FlyQ+ is an entirely different and new app. What's strange about that claim is that I never downloaded FlyQ+. My Ipad automatically updated their old semi-stable app and now that same old app has a new name. Until I got their "Screw You" email last month, I never even noticed a difference. Quite honestly, I still don't see anything different that would make me think this is something new. It will be a cold day in hell before that company ever sees another dollar from me. If I'm going to have to pay again for a product I already purchased, it will be with one of their competitors.
So you drove around looking for another all-you-can-eat seafood restaurant... and then you went fishing? This reminds me about the time I went to the all you can eat buffet.
After my third plate the manager came over and told me, "Sir, that's all you can eat."
Thanks for posting the follow up. Although it explains why no 6.9 Legacy I’m still a bit fuzzy on how one FlyQ will function differently for annual vs lifetime. It seems as if Steve is explaining that we can stay on 7.02 and keep updating. If that’s the case, what happens if someone gets a new tablet and only 7.1 shows up in the App Store. Also existing IPads might be at risk if they have automatic updates. They came out with a new email about a month ago, essentially backtracking on most things:
“
My name is Steve Podradchik, one of the founders of Seattle Avionics.
In our effort to communicate critical changes to FlyQ, we’ve sent multiple emails describing the new FlyQ Lifetime subscription model. This change allows us to substantially accelerate investment in the product, both improving the app stability and adding multiple new features. The proof has been a half dozen releases already this calendar year.
Of course, I'd be remiss if I didn’t note how the policy change was handled, and we sincerely apologize for the angst, confusion, and mistrust this has caused. Clearly, we’re better at writing software than policy statements. To that point, we’ve come up with a revised plan that we believe better portrays our commitment to the FlyQ community and allows us to continue the increased investment in FlyQ.
(+) All FlyQ customers, lifetime and annual subscribers alike, will be able to use FlyQ+. No one will be asked to download a new app.
(+) All FlyQ customers, lifetime and annual subscribers alike, will continue to get new ChartData updates and subsequent releases of FlyQ+ as they are released.
(+) The only difference will be that new features, beyond what was in FlyQ EFB 6.9.1, will only be enabled for annual subscribers. To be clear, this means that all users will continue to receive bug fixes and new releases as iOS updates are produced but only annual subscribers will benefit from the new features added in FlyQ+ 7.0 and later.
When will this be implemented?
The FlyQ+ EFB 7.1 release, available early November, will be the first with this new approach. FlyQ+ EFB 7.1 adds an Engine-Out Glide Ring feature(watch the Glide Ring preview video), which has been in high demand for quite some time. In the meantime, all users (lifetime and annual subscribers) can use FlyQ+ EFB 7.0.2 and all its features. If you see value in the new functionality, you can switch to an annual subscription at any time (for 25% less than what others pay).
On behalf of myself and the entire FlyQ team, thank you! We are all very excited about the work we’re doing on FlyQ and pledge to work hard to earn your trust.”
So to answer your question, no FlyQ legacy won’t be a thing. You can just continue to use regular FlyQ
currently a lifetime subscriber. It will be interesting to see how many flee with the change
If I remember correctly, the FTC came down on ATT for changing terms on unlimited data plans. I need to review the t&c but I think a complaint to the FTC is coming.
Hello,I hope pilots are a more disciplined group than gamers because EA and Ubisoft have been doing this kind of crap for years, yet still make money hand-over-fist.
Yes, and I just filed a report with the FTCClass action suit?
