I still remember a skit I saw on the old "Dean Martin" TV show in the '60s.
Dean and another man (George Jessel?) were dressed as monks. The skit began with a voiceover saying they belonged to an order that had taken an oath of silence, and they were only allowed to speak for five minutes every ten years.
A bell sounds.
One monk says his first words in ten years: "And another thing...."
The conversation is fairly insulting. Finally, Dean tells the other guy, "Do you know what your problem is?"
The bell sounds again. Both men then go silent again.
I'm reminded of this skit every time a thread gets locked.
