I had Cyberlink Power Director recommended to me and loaded the free version. I like to shoot videos when I take friends up for a flight. I do not have much experience with video editing but was able to combine sound from the interior camera with video from the wing camera with the program. I would like to try switching video from camera to camera and Im not sure this program does it. It isnt too expensive - $60 year so I will probably just give it a try but thought I would ask if anyone else uses it or has a different program they like.

Any video editing suggestions that are not too advanced or expensive? Thanks.
 
I finally found a good spot to mount a camera on our Mooney wing, and did just what you're talking about over the weekend.

All the Youtubers here probably have much better recommendations, but I downloaded the free version of DaVinci Resolve. It was fairly easy for a beginner to use after watching a couple videos on how to do the most common things.
 
The free Power Director shows a watermark on a finished video. I will check out the Davinci program. Thanks
 
I used Cyberlink Power Director for years. It was a 1 time perpetual license and I found it to be the best editor for the price.
To switch cameras, you will want to use what CLPD calls multicam designer. I haven't used it but I use Adobe Premier version of multicam editor



Somewhere in the editor, it will have a function where you can pull up all the videos that compose the project. In a left pane, you will see all the clips which you will have synced based on a clap or some other means of aligning. Click play, and all the clips will play in the left window and in the right window, you will see the output. As it plays, just click which clip you want to see in the left pane and it essentially switches from camera 1 to camera 2 and so forth. Once you stop, it will merge all the cuts into a single clip and the angles will switch when you play it back and when you export it. This is the fastest way to do it. You can cut and drag clips to do the same thing but it will take many more hours to edit camera switching.

While it is playing, click an alternate clip and the output reflects the change and it saves the switch to the final edit.

As far as your other question, what program recommendations? I would say Adobe premier. I have tried a lot of editors and Premier is the most intuitive. Davinci resolve was the least intuitive.
Simplest one I have found that is also inexpensive is Wondershare Filmora. It is great for a beginner that doesn't want things to be overly complex. It does a lot of cute bubblegum stuff that the kids like with prebuilt transitions, effects, etc. Best thing is for $60, you can get a perpetual license and not have to rent it like the others.

Davinci resolve. Free. Lots of videos to teach you how to use it. Amazing what you can do for free. There is a learning curve.
 
I tried DaVinci when the free version of Videopad went away but it was too hard to find the functions I was using in Videopad and knew had to be there. More recently I've been using the free version of Hitfilm.

I downloaded the Davinci Resolve and it looks like a great program but way more than I want to learn. I think I will just stick with the Cyberlink Power Director and pay the $60. I do not want to be a video producer - just videos for people I give a ride to and family. Thanks for all the suggestions.
