It’s fairly clear what the process is on the faa website if you take eye drops to lower ocular pressure but I don’t see anything about Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty. It’s a simple in office procedure. Does anyone know or have any experience on whether this is an approved procedure and what the process is for the faa? Thanks.

If the procedure controls your IO pressure without drops, and it's a procedure that Medicare pays for, I wouldn't think there'd be any issue. Generally used if the drops aren't working, apparently.
 
Shouldn't be an issue beyond what you already have to submit for your diagnosis of glaucoma, glaucoma suspect, or ocular hypertension (FAA 8500-7, visual field exam, intraocular pressure).
 
That just falls under the Special Issuance criteria for glaucoma... Annual Humphrey 24-2 visual field maps and the "report of ophthalmologist "8500-7".

Would this be a CACI condition where the Ame can review the 8500-7 paperwork and issue a medical there on the spot?

Ok maybe I don’t understand the Humphrey. I took a visual field test and it came back normal. It shows white dots all over and you push a button when you see them. Is the Humphrey a different test with varying levels of normal or pass. What exactly is passing with the faa
 
It is self verifying. It show you the same dot 4 times in 4 different brightnesses. If you get the middle bright ones, but miss the bright one, they know your eye was wandering. I can't teach you that here on a webboard. What does the ophthalmologist doc think of it?

Right now he’s just wait and see and keep an eye on the pressures. He doesn’t think any therapy laser or drops are necessary at this time. I see him every 4 months or so. The field vision test I took was like a VR headset w white dots all over and I had a trigger that I would just press when I saw a white dot. That was normal. He also gave me a ton of other tests checking for glaucoma and optic nerve health etc and everything is perfect. So it’s just a wait and monitor situation. My pressures actually went down this past visit so I was happy to see that. Like all of us, I don’t want to get lost in the SI process and was hoping this would be a CACI if and when I eventually start taking drops.
 
Google "CACI - Glaucoma Worksheet". Do you meet all the criteria?

Google "Humphrey Field Analyzer". There's a picture of the machine on Wikipedia. Does that look familiar? Do you have a copy of the report? Does it look familiar as the ones online?
