My medical was deferred this June due to a ADD diagnosis. I went through the process of getting a Cog screen evaluation and all of my stuff has been sent in and received by the FAA. I know the FAA is very unorganised and getting cleared can take months so I am contacting a congressman to help expedite the process. Does anyone have a number or a point of reference that I can provide the congressman, preferably in the medical reviewing department, so I can make it as easy as possible for him? Any information would be greatly appreciated!!!!
 
WAIT until the end of the 6th month. If you involve "le congresscritteur" prior you get back "Masssive backlog". "Is in process" . But after the 183 day time, you get something similar back but about two weeks later, unexplained, you get your file looked at. :)

You don't need a number. Any congress member or senator will have a link "help with federal agencies". They will ask you to complete an authorization form. They might ask you for some information regarding your case. They will contact the FAA themselves. But I do agree you should wait at least 180 days. Mine was 11 months and I finally reached out to my senator. I got my medical 2 weeks after that. I am still not sure if it helped.
 
I've hesitated to contact my Congressman because I've heard that gets it kicked to DC which becomes another massive wait for your medical application. Does anyone know if this is the case? I've heard varying stories.
 
It is not. In fact by law the FAA has to respond to a congressional inquiry in 14 days. There can by law be no retaliation nor can the congresscritter be seen to be attempting to influence the outcome.
 
Just want to make sure I’m understanding correctly here. 180 days after your case was initially deferred or 180 days after your case went into review?

My initial exam was 05/01/24 and was deferred on 05/04/24. My case went into “under review” on 06/20/24. So from what you say, should I be past that 180 day mark?
