Apparently CNN was operating a drone (I believe I read it was a DJI Mavic 3). After striking a light pole it fell, injuring 3 people.

Obviously not as bad as an actual aircraft crashing, but it won't help the public's view of drones.

I’m eager to hear if the remote pilot was following all applicable regulations during the flight.

... it won't help the public's view of drones.
Having the drone on the ground right in front of you would improve your view a lot compared to when it's 400' overhead.

Why don't you want the publics perception of drones to be negative? I certainly have a negative perception of drones. And I own one or nine, depending on how you define drone.

I don’t believe you are allowed to allow your airplane to injury people or property. ;)

were the partiers informed of the Drone Surveillance?

It’s interesting that the man who bled profusely (whatever the wording) refused further treatment. Is he a citizen trying to retain his privacy?

after that article (video ?) on robot dogs and now this it really seems like Terminator sci-fi will be real life in a few years

I predict they will take swift, decisive action to make sure a CNN drone never again injures bystanders.

I'll bet they are already looking for independent contractors to operate all future drone flights.
I bet they will blame someone else. CNN is perfect.

How does a Mavic 3 hurt 3 people??

good question - maybe it broke apart when it hit the light pole and the "shrapnel" hit the three people
