Passenger lands King Air in Bakersfield

Incident aircraft appears to be N6077X. Landed KBFL at 2039Z. Assuming course alteration was coincident with medical event, aircraft landed about an hour later.

Wasn't it a King Air some time ago with a similar story (I think there was a movie?) where the pilot died and the airplane was landed by his passenger?
He wasn't a pilot IIRC but had flight experience for a PPL in the past.

Yes, I recall that one as well. Think this might be it?

Edit: yep, more detailed account.

How hard can it be? This 80 year old woman landed a twin Cessna on one engine after her husband passed out at the controls!

Now the airplane sustained heavy damage but "any landing you can walk away from" ...

Seriously folks, great to hear this ended well! :)

A successful outcome could have gone terribly wrong. Good job by the person that coached the non pilot down.

My take away from these is that if I'm going to ride in one, I want to read up on the POH first, and practice acting calm while being terrified.

How many of you get into an unfamilar plane with a new pilot friend and begin looking over the systems and observing all you can while thinking to yourself, "if he grabs his chest and has the big one I wanna know how to get this thing down" ... ;)
