That was truly shocking. New meaning for the expression a blast from the past.

Maybe they were Mark 13 torpedos?? Seriously, this made me think of the Battle of Midway and how the Avenger pilots took off knowing they probably wouldn't return and their torpedoes would likely malfunction...which they did. The definition of sacrifice and bravery.
 
In the late 90’s I witnessed authorities disarming a WW2 250lb bomb uncovered in a front yard in Pacific Grove California on the flight path to the now closed Fort Ord Army base.

The home owner dug it up after beating it with a pickaxe. :eek:
