Ordered new Tecnam P2010

My P2010 has LEMO recepticle so I ordered a Delta Zulu with LEMO connector 2 1/2 months ago and love them. Very comfortable, flawless Bluetooth, and a built-in carbon monoxide detector. Programmed it upon receipt and now it will alert me to any unusual carbon monoxide. I can also check the readings of the carbon monoxide levels after each flight.

It also has the ability to run a hearing test so you can make electronic adjustments to sound frequencies to better hear the radio. Luckily my hearing is very good right now so I left it in default.

So my 2 3/4 year old Zulu 3 (GA plugs) will now move to the Co-Pilot seat...
Sounds great!!! Although I have no clue what you just said. Still sounds good though.

The LEMO connection provides audio, microphone and power to the headset for ANR and Bluetooth functions. It replaces GA recepticle with a LEMO recepticle build into the plane and a LEMO connector on end of headset cable. The Lightspeed Delta Zulu has a rechargeable battery built into the headset control box should you lose power in the airplane...

Hello
New member here…
I am really interested in a p2010tdi, someone told me the usable load was increased recently from the original 803 lbs, is there any truth to it?
I would need at least 880 lb for my missions.
I am also looking at a DA40 NG, but they are pricier and I prefer a high wing.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
JET

Welcome new member!

The maximum take off weight increased by 89 pounds to account for the extra weight of the diesel engine. I believe the useful load on the TDI is now 838. If you need 880 pounds with full tanks just fill to 54 gallons instead of full tanks. That still leaves you many hours of flying time!

TBR details here:

https://flyer.co.uk/continental-raises-tbr-for-high-horsepower-diesel-engine/

The P2010 at www.tecnam.com is updated to new weights...

KBDN, Bend Oregon. Actually took me a few weeks to get it back from AZ due to a bunch of weather that made the trip very hard to schedule. Got about 15 hours on it so far, and it's been great aside from the engine not kicking out too much heat! Pros and cons of the TDI.

Random question, I got conflicting info on the LEMO plug on these things. Tecnam guy said it doesn't provide power, but that seems crazy. Does yours provide power or just audio? Been planning on picking up the LEMO cable for my headset if so...

Great. As you can see from this thread, I hit a little weather coming back to California. Sounds like you got delayed a little more than me though

Yes it does provide power. I use the Lightspeed Delta Zulu with LEMO.

I'm in a similar boat, are you getting reimbursed at a custom rate or do you go with the GSA rate? Is it your own business?

I do a fair bit of travel on short notice to places that are often a 1 hr+ drive from the nearest airport with commercial service. I also have the flexibility to shift when I travel to account for weather and slower speeds than commercial. But I've heard it can be a hassle to document everything and that reimbursement rates don't adequately cover true costs of ownership.
I don't think the rate matters. And I don't think it matters if there is commercial Service available and you choose to fly your own plane. My plane, is registered to my corporation and I think that makes a difference.

I keep all the proper documentation, flight logs, fuel receipts, hotel receipts, meal receipts, rental car/ Uber receipts, notes as to the purpose of the meeting, etc. and total at the end of the year and document in my tax return.

ASN says "abnormal runway contact event." All I see from the NTSB is that it was operated by a part 141 outfit, flown on a part 91 training flight, had substantial damage, and caused no injuries. Do you know more about the mishap, or any preliminary lessons to learn from it?

I do not. If I find out more I will post here and PM you...

Gentleman, I am a student pilot awaiting my Checkride in a C172 this Wednesday () but have been looking at purchasing planes for further training and recreational flying. I wanted your honest opinion of Tecnam P2010 will fit my mission.

Flying will be a hobby and probably 90% of it will be me burning holes in the skies. I have a young family (7 and 11 year old) and we live in Dallas, TX so, I can see myself going on 200-400 nm trips (mostly Texas coast or other big cities)in the future.

Does Tecnam 2010 fit those missions? I mean 4 people and up to 400 nm (no mountain flying).

And if so, is the 215 hp the ideal option or does the 170 TDI serve these missions too?

I don’t see a lot of discussion on these type XC missions online so, reaching out here.

Thanks in advance! Chetan

I'm very happy with my P2010 with the IO-390 215 hp engine and a friend of mine with the TDI is equally as happy. The P2010 is basically a 172+, not quite a 182. But less expensive than both. Stay away from the IO-360 engine model...

The 390 and TDI will fulfill your missions but the TDI has a little more useful load and greater range. You may need to reduce fuel in the TDI as your kids grow but you will still get your required range because of the better efficiency of diesel/jetA.

You can compare all models at www.Tecnam.com and Universal Flight Concepts (UFC) in Waco Texas serves Baylor University student pilots with lots of P2010s.

You can also ask to follow my P2010 flights at www.FlightFollowing.aero
