Aviators who are not pilots

Think about it, aside from a check ride, ramp check, or job interview, have you ever had someone ask to see your pilot certificate?

Same as a high school diploma or college degree.

My job in Pharma required that I submit to the FDA inspectors a copy of the diploma for my highest graduate degree, part of their mandate to insure that everyone working in a regulated area had the academic credentials they said they did. I'm not sure why they didn't just contact the universities, the way HR does.

By the time they asked, I had no idea what had happened to my diploma. Took awhile to find, even though it was not on the small side. My wife was so appalled that I had 'lost' it, at least for awhile, that I got it back at Christmas that year in a big honkin' frame.

Of course, since we recently moved, I once again have no idea where it is.

Rentals had their own rules, and students who trained in Piper Cubs were required to do some training in nose wheel Piper's or Cessna's before solo rentals.
