Does anyone have experience with timeline for a denied first class medical? Received a denial back in April with a list of requirements for reconsideration. All were immediately provided. There has been no movement since. My understanding is the application is in a different "stack", but I have no idea what to expect as far as timeline. Initial decision took a year. And medxpress has said Final Review since the revised documents were provided. I have been told that MedXpress is wrong and nothing can be done to fix that so it's basically a waiting game I guess until a letter comes in the mail.

It would be helpful if you're willing to share the reason you were denied. And were you denied it deferred? It was that they were not able to determine eligibility. Denial stated that they were "willing to reconsider your request for airman medical certification with submission of the following documentation". Basically saying they needed additional information. It was almost like they hadn't reviewed the packet submitted. They asked for a lot of things they already had. The requests were based on a miscommunications that have occurred due to changing AMEs (old one retired), and it appeared to them that there was a lapse in monitoring.

I hope you hear something soon. That’s the typical timeline that I’ve seen from people I know in the HIMS program. I’ve seen it stretch out to 12 months after the pilot sent in more information the faa requested. It could be different with your case, maybe 6 months? Less? It also depends on if you’re a part 121 pilot then it moves a little quicker. It’s a very backwards process that brings in a LOT of money to a LOT of different people and was designed this way on purpose.
I was 18 mos. all in for a class 3 from time of initial deferral to special issuance in HIMS program for distant past issues. I had already done, and continued to do for many years, certain requirements of the HIMS protocol other than urine screens. After 4 months of screens and recommendation to issue by HIMS AME it took another 3 months to receive the SI. MedExpress status seemed to not mean much.
