Midwest POA June Brunch: June 22, 2024 1000 CDT, The Jet Room at KMSN, Madison, WI.

I’m probably gonna be up for wherever at this point, the Chicago area doesn’t have storms forecast until late that night either so something there might work.
Same. Though we did do EYE in Feb. MDH is pretty great but would be a long haul for most of you. RPJ is always good as is 06C.

I’m at pilot petes right now!! LOL failed attempt at flying up to KOSH. Stupid thunderstorms….

06C will be 15G28 tomorrow. In case that helps or hurts. Pretty much a direct crosswind.

I could do MDH. At least the probability is significantly higher than anywhere else at the moment.

Nauga,
boxed in

I landed the Mooney once in a direct 19G28 crosswind, took three attempts to stick the landing. Nope. Not doing that again.

Crosswinds like that at 06C is brutal for light aircraft. Trees to the south make it insane handling fence to touchdown.

You probably should so we can continue the Mooney Vs Comanche debate in real life, what with Ed throwing shade at your plane in the turbo thread.
Wait, what???

I mean, I actually like Comanches a lot. Not surprising, since they basically took a lot of the best parts of Mooneys and Bonanzas to create them. I've lusted after a Twin Comanche for 20+ years. I just don't know if I'm up for vintage airplane maintenance - My 1997 bird has been highly reliable, pretty much all I have to do is oil changes and address minor things at annual. And it is still a little faster and more efficient than a Comanche... But it's really sad that the Comanche line had to end the way it did with a hurricane, because an updated Comanche could still be very competitive today - Take a look at the Ravin 500 to see what that would look like.

I’m ambivalent on the location outside of the time may need to shift back if the distance is further and inevitably puts me under or around the Bravo. Surface temps on Lake Michigan are still full on murdery so no transiting for me.

Also, the MSN TAF is PROB30 -TSRA, bears watching but nothing to get excited about.

Let's stick with the plan then.

I'll make my decision by 7-8am tomorrow, if it's thundery then scrapping it. I can do IFR though.

Well, prob30 is gone and replaced with TEMPO 2212/2216 TSRA BKN010CB. Eww. Plan B?

How about Kittyhawk cafe at KAZO, Kalamazoo? Opens at 11 EDT. Weather is better there, no TS. Gusty winds are a direct headwind. Etc.

I think I’m just out at this point, Madison no good and I’d need to be on my way to the airport already.

Looks tempting never been there.

I'm staying home today too. Plenty to do around here before we head out west, and if I don't put any more hours on the plane before we leave, I won't feel guilty about not changing the oil before the trip.

Unable. Kid responsibilities in the afternoon mean I need to stay closer to home and I’m not going direct over the lake to make up for distance. Plus Madison’s weather is going to be here soon. I’m out.

Yeah let’s plan for next time. Forecast worsened here. 20G30KT later and it’s 12G19KT already.

Airborne a bit late. Due to land at noon edt

Looks good!

What about tomorrow?

Where tomorrow?

That’s what I’m saying.

Edit: it’s got to be far

The museum did a really nice job of assembling a good collection and keeping them in good shape. Food was decent.
