I am a 41 year-old woman. I have been connected to aviation since birth. I really ignored it most of my life. I finally tried to acknowledge that I love aviation. Having a Dad that is an aircraft mechanic fostered this love. He is old now, still works but I think he has a thing against women pilots. He is 75 years old.
Crazy thing is, the best times we have had together recently were in connection to aviation. I make a trip to him during the week so we can watch either "Mayday" or "Air Crash Investigation"
Because my 75 year-old Dad had certain prejudices against women flying, I was never encouraged to pursue it.
I recognize the time he grew up in and his beliefs. I know that it is hard to change your beliefs at that age.
I have been subtely letting him know that I want to learn to fly. He is somewhat resistant because I am a woman, I am his baby girl and I never let him know prior to me turning 40 that I was interested.
I know I am way too old to aspire to be a Legacy Co
Flying and reading.
