    High Performance and Complex Rating

My plane will need a lot of $$$ to be useful for actual IFR. The plan is to upgrade the plane over the next few years and then get the IR in my plane.

    Leadville Co Density Altitude 11,500

Videos and reports like this reinforce my love for the flat lands. I get nervous crossing the Appalachians lol. Having said that, i flew around in the Canadian Rockies in a 85 hp Ercoupe but that was three years ago when i was young and dumb lol. Great video though and thanks for sharing.

    High Performance and Complex Rating

Good to know. I thought it’s a once off thing and since i did it for my ppl, i’m good. What would be considered training towards an IR? I have a ppl but even here in Canada, i usually go up with a cfi every so often to do some under the hood work to keep that sharp in case i get caught in an...

    High Performance and Complex Rating

In 1997, i was still too short to even reach the rudder pedals of Cessna 150 so that rule wouldn’t apply to me ;-) Thanks for all the responses. So, seems like i’ll just have to get a quick flight with a CFI and show him/her i am proficient in the Comanche to get the sign off. I assume I could...

    High Performance and Complex Rating

I can probably look this up but thought I'd post my question here for discussion purposes. I have a Canadian PPL and an FAA PPL. With the Canadian PPL, I don't need an endorsement to fly a complex airplanes. The Canadian definition of a "high performance aircraft" is also different than the FAA...

    Ugh. Had to book airlines...again.

It works pretty good for me, even as a VFR only pilot. But, i never have to be or be back home on a specific date. i usually have a 2-3 day window and that works out almost every time.

Who is Jack Fleetwood, the photographer? Chat GPT

Fully agree with that. AI is a tool and if used correctly, it can significantly boost productivity, make a ton of personal or business processes simpler, faster and more cost efficient. But yeah, it's not a source of truth. It has been trained on some data. That data has human bias. AI is not a...

Who is Jack Fleetwood, the photographer? Chat GPT

Here you go. It does ignore 80% of my career though and only focuses on one of the many things I work or have worked on lol. I guess consulting is too boring to be noteworthy.

    My first logbook is full!

Today, I entered the last line of my first physical logbook. My first entry was December 17, 2018 for an intro flight in a rented Cessna 172 and my last entry was today, May 19, 2024 for a bi-annual flight review (which I passed) in my own Piper Comanche 250. Some of my highlights include: -...

    Next plane...

I don't consider the Comanche a short field airplane, nor a grass strip airplane. I know some do land it on grass but I'd feel bad landing mine on anything other than nicely paved runways. Also, I don't think 2,100 ft. of runway is enough for a Comanche on a hot, humid summer day. Landing, sure...

If [BLANK] is what you find too expensive about flying...

For me it was a fuel pump. Automotive fuel pump is the exact same as the aviation one, just without the sticker. Same brand/manufacturer, same components, etc. The auto version was $50, the aviation one was $250. My mechanic just bought the automotive one, used the components of it to rebuild...
