    Customs trouble

My biggest issue with these stories is our(aircraft owners) compared to the border situation the last number of years. If one thinks about it more than a minute your head will spin. I’ve fished in Canada a few times, flew to AK once. I’m a lot less likely to cross now...

    Plane down Western AR.

The weather near the crash site was reportedly very good, almost clear. It was dark out. He was pretty high, could hypoxia contribute? Seems like something to consider. I didn’t hear any mention of a distress call.

    Commander 690 Down in VA

Looks to be an inflight breakup, debris scattered over 3 miles. There was a fair amount of weather in the area. I’d think an over stress, over speed, or a combination was involved. As to the reason for that to occur, launch the investigation. Since a fair amount of accidents have adverse...

Cesna 172 down northern MN. Two survive

1:30 A.M., with ‘bad weather’? Does that deserve ‘kudos’? I’d have to know more details first. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/kudos

Bonanza crash in residential area, Augusta, GA

What type of info about a door coming open? I didn’t see mention of any ATC call with an issue? Was there evidence of a door open at the crash site?

Commander N965BC Crashes in Icing Conditions 13 Apr 2024 in San Bernadino Mountains

There are so many accidents where the weather contributes. One can back up a little and see weak ADM as a factor also. Look at the plane that just had the inflight breakup, there was weather in the area.

    April solar eclipse

Lots of good eclipse pictures. I took a few but nothing like those with specialty equipment.

Best overall month to do a long trip by 140 knot piston single?

Based near San Diego? First off, how much does the gf enjoy flying? That is, bouncing around in a 20 kt headwind? I think you have to incorporate some fun destinations and not just distance covered. Have you done test flights with the gf & dog? In the heat of summer I’d be angling North...

    April solar eclipse

I did the eclipse from the air, after filling up with $4.95 fuel. There were a few planes flying the area, not to crazy.

    April solar eclipse

They were calling this guy nonstop on guard yesterday afternoon. He flew the Chicago lakefront back to WI, well inside the VIP TFR. A subscription to G.P. or Foreflight would of been well worth it, or check Notams.

    April solar eclipse

I was at 3000 AGL near the IN/OH border, just lightly busy. I enjoyed it, turned the lights on.

Yes, I’m waiting until I get to accurate forecasting range, max flexibility. Right now I have NW IN, S IL, or staying home as options. I just fueled up yesterday, plan to be ready.

    Radon

I have a pretty good tester from Amazon, long & short term readings. I’m a little high, 5-5.5 or so, I mostly use improvised mitigation techniques. Those methods are an open basement door, to the outside and a barn fan. I do this when around home & weather allows. My average is near 4 with the...

That Tempest anti seize is much to watery, runs off.

Delta pilot caught boozing the preflight

Yep, not a good way to go out. Back in my day, pilots taking a bottle or two in the bag wasn’t a biggie at all. Of course no sampling any time in the 8 or 12 hour windows. Some changed after 9-11, a few places don’t care for liquids, even with crew members. I think the average USA liquor store...
