Just wanted to say thank you to everyone, particularly @bbchien. I received a letter of eligibility recently. Anyone in a similar situation follow the advice given by @bbchien it worked for me.

Aren’t they required to notify the FAA of any change in health between medicals? I only bring this point up because the instances of suicide by pilot are very low, I think it was 36 in 52 years. I could see the FAA pointing to this figure and saying the suicide rate among the general...

Technically you are probably correct and I am sure this is the answer the FAA would give. in actuality, if someone holds a valid medical they should not be suicidal, so a suicide regardless of the means should be counted as a strike against their system.

We should really look at suicide by people who hold a medical certificate vs the general population. I bet not every case is carried out in a plane, which will skew the numbers. To your point number 2, as you are pointing out, suicidal does not equal homicidal. I suggest everyone watch this...

It is interesting that this report was ordered in response to the Germanwings incident, which according to the memorandum in the report, involved a pilot that should have "receive psychiatric hospital treatment due to a possible psychosis". Psychosis is explicitly called out as a disqualifying...

Yes, I am aware of this, but it really makes no sense. Why even have any conditions listed at all? What "qualified medical judgment relating to the condition" are they citing? This is why I bring up the data question.

Thank you. So, the estimated probability of suicide by pilots is 2 x 10^-8, assuming 35 million flights per year worldwide. Is this number a result of strict FAA (and other national administrations') policies, or could it be lower if mental health treatment for pilots were less discouraged...

Is there even any data that shows depression, anxiety and other common mental health diagnoses are aeromedical factors?

Is there any benefit to calling the AMCD periodically while cert is under review?

You could try your congressperson, I heard an ad on the radio the other day encouraging people to reach out the their representatives if they are having trouble interfacing with a federal agency. I happen to work for a different government agency and when we get congressional inquiries they...

Is there any benefit to calling the AMCD periodically while cert is under review?

Which regional office did you call? I called the eastern one, which covers my state, and the voicemail box was full. I submitted my last round of paperwork on 8/30 and have been in review since. Thanks for the help!

Yes, I think the FAA medical system is flawed. I never see this discussed, but 14 CFR 69 clearly defines conditions that are disqualifying. Depression, Anxiety, and ADHD are not included as disqualifying conditions. 67.107 (c) does state the following which I am sure is how the FAA justifies...

SSRI Decision Path I and incorrect condition listed by AME

This is what my PCP wrote in the note I got last week, I think it does show that if grief should not be treated with SSRIs that I was incorrectly treated: "There has been confusion with his mental health diagnosis history. He has had one episode of grief reaction that caused depression...

Thank you all for the replies and information. Unfortunately, the documentation I have is quite thin. I have the original diagnosis and prescription which was done through Teladoc in about 20 minutes. Then I have a follow up appointment with my PCP where he took over the prescription, and then...

Thank you so much for taking to time to respond. I will talk with my AME. I have also requested a copy of my record from OKC to see what exactly is in there.

SSRI Decision Path I and incorrect condition listed by AME

Has anyone received a request for additional information when following SSRI Pathway I? I took Lexapro for 20 months following the death of my father and got off it at the beginning of March. Went to the AME for my initial 3rd class with a letter from my doctor and the AME issued my medical on...
